Geography
Western
Kentucky. Fulton and Hickman counties are located in the Jackson
Purchase area consisting of 8 counties total. The Purchase area is bounded by
the Mississippi River, Ohio River, and Tennessee River (now Kentucky Lake)
borders. There are also 3 bordering states; Tennessee (south), Illinois
(north), and Missouri (west). Fulton and Hickman counties combined land area
is 453 square miles. Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a major source of
power for the Purchase area. Fulton county
elevation ranges from 260,
the lowest in the state, to 500 feet above sea level. Land area is 209 sq.
miles, an average of 37.1 people per sq. mile. The county seat is the City of
Hickman. Hickman county elevation
ranges from 276 to 510 feet above sea level. Land area is 244 sq. miles, an
average of 21.5 people per sq. mile. The county seat is Clinton. It is the
